Madang Provincial Police Commander Ben Neneo told his police officers to improve on their performances and adjust to developments in the province. He said many officers were not committed to police duties.
The challenges police faced in 2018 were criminal matters where witnesses refused to come forward with information to prosecute offenders.
Hundreds of cases were not dealt with because of no witness statements.
The closure of Jomba Police Station was a major setback to policing in Madang and the Madang Chamber of Commerce and Industry assisted police to order parts for the main water pump to the old cell block, which would be fitted within a few weeks and also ordered septic pipes for the new cell for women and juveniles.
MSW-21 is a reporting platform for reporting crime and other illegal activities that go on throughout Papua New Guinea.
MSW-21 takes an observe and report approach where information is centralized and an incident call can be lodged for further actions and closed when appropriate actions have taken place.
MSW-21 works like a communication centre where the coordination of information and resources takes place. Information is passed through to relevant authorities, organizations, stakeholders and the media for more appropriate responses to incidents.
MSW-21 is not an incident command post; it is an information hub where news and information gathering from various sources including the community at large are analysed and disseminated.
